Quick Testimony

Sunday night, at church, several people gave testimony of what God's been doing in their lives or of things they were thankful for. I felt really convicted about my prayer life when Bro. Luke gave testimony. He talked about Mary praying for the ants to go away in their house and the next day they were gone. I have a bad habit of praying only for what seem like big things but when it's something small I tend to lean on the arm of the flesh rather than going to God with my request. Instead of praying for the ants to be gone I probably would have tried every bug spray invented by man or allowed the boys to have a grand old time smashing ants all day.
This is something I'm definately working on. I was thinking about my relationship with my dad. Whenever I needed anything, big or small, I had no reserve to go and ask my dad, especially for the "small things" (can I have $10, can Crystal stay over, etc.). He was more likely to grant me the small things over the big things so I never hesitated to ask him for anything. He's a good father and seldom told me "no", only if it wasn't good for me, as any good father would. Matthew 7:7-11 are familiar verses that deal with asking and receiving. Verse 11 says, "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" So that's what God's been working on me about. I desire to grow in this area that my children will grow up knowing they can go to God in prayer for ANYTHING! I don't have ants but I did have a lost mailbox key. It had been missing for almost 2 weeks and I was starting to feel pretty anxious knowing there were paychecks and bills in our mailbox. Yesterday morning I started scouring the whole house in a last effort to find the key before calling a locksmith. I searched and searched but didn't find it. Then I called the locksmith and they told me it would be almost $100 for a service fee and to change the lock and make a new key. I started to tell them to go ahead and come out here but I remembered Luke's testimony and these verses in Matthew and......prayed instead. Thank God for His Holy Spirit. About an hour later I was sitting in the office and the kids were playing outside. I was on the phone with Josh explaining what the locksmith said when Greyson runs through the back door with, guess what, the MAILBOX KEY! He found it in the dirt! God is ALWAYS good!

Praise the Lord!!! What an amazing testimony to read!!! I love it! I too tend to lean on the arm of flesh for the small things... and I had forgotten about that wonderful verse that you quoted in your post! Thank you for bringing that to my mind again! Your post was such a blessing to read!! I will now go on with my day, talking to the Lord about the small things, too. Do you think he can make Malachi stop pounding on things? Can he make Turah stop picking up the kitten every 2 minutes?? Help Gabriel with his speech impediment?! Absolutely~!!

That is an awesome testimony! God is so good to us of little faith! It is truly a good reminder! I often find that when something is lost, I can look and look, but when I pray, I find what I am looking for in such a short amount of time. So why is it that it isn't the first thing we do always? hmmmm. Thanks for the testimony!

That is sooo wonderful! I love to see God at work in the little things in our lives. :):) I know He has helped me sooooo much in the small things in life. I think it is the big things I have a problem asking for sometimes.
Your post is a wonderful testimony and thank you for sharing!!

Wow, that was very good!! Luke's testimony is very good. I have struggles in this area at times...I am doing better now, but there was a time I taught my kids to pray about everything, but i did not always model that for them. I have learned to lean on the Lord more and we all rejoice in this home when the Lord answers the big prayers and the little ones too!! God is so good!!!

Awesome testimony, thanks for sharing Cindee! I have been convicted of needing to pray more myself lately. It is so easy to get out of a regular routine of prayer. :) Thanks for sharing, again! What an awesome praise!

Thanks for sharing this testimony, Cindee! It is so true that we tend to forget to pray until life gets tough...when that should be the very first thing we do in every situation. It's so exciting that God is concerned about the "little" things in our life, too!

Cindee,
Thank you for the neat testimony; and what a sober reminder it is to me to pray about everything, that God is waiting to hear my prayers and answer them.
I am inspired by your words.
